Step Up Rehab began with a simple observation: the people who need rehabilitation most are often the people who find it hardest to get to a clinic. So we removed the clinic.
Our approach
Practising a kitchen transfer in an actual kitchen. Rebuilding stair confidence on the client's own stairs. Home based therapy is not a compromise on clinic care, it is often more relevant, because goals are set and measured in the environment where the client lives.
Step Up Rehab is a small practice based in Knoxfield, covering physiotherapy, occupational therapy, community nursing and allied health assistance. Physiotherapy is delivered by an AHPRA registered physiotherapist with postgraduate training in Fascial Manipulation, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, the Mulligan Concept and NeuroKinetic Therapy.
Because the practice is small, communication is direct. Case managers deal directly with the treating clinician, not a call centre, and reports are written by the person who actually saw the client.
Sessions available in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. For Melbourne's Chinese speaking seniors, therapy in their own language means better understanding, better participation and better outcomes.
What guides our care
Goals are set around what matters to the client: walking to the letterbox, showering independently, returning to work. Every session moves toward those goals.
We recommend the frequency and duration of therapy the client actually needs, and we say so when therapy is no longer adding value.
Families, case managers, support coordinators and GPs are kept informed with timely, plain language reporting.
